What we do

Go on a journey with us

The Ultreia Projects embraces the notion that a meaningful, fulfilling life and/or ministry flows from the seeker's choice to engage the Divine’s invitation “Go…to the land I will show you.” (Gen. 12:1) This choice to risk the numbing routine of what passes for life, ministry, and community today, in exchange for a life-giving and empowering faith/life journey, is the core mission of the Ultreia Project.

“Go…to the land I will show you.”
Genesis 12:1

We offer the opportunity for the seeker, through spiritual direction, clergy mentoring and consensus-based leadership development, to embrace the oldest metaphor of faith (journey) as their pathway to a more vital and empowering life and ministry.

Ultreia: to go beyond

Drawing from the richness of the Camino de Santiago Pilgrimage, Ultreia means to go beyond the knowns of one’s life to discover the divine surprises that await over the next rise, around the next turn, beyond the horizon. The Ultreia Project provides a generative and holistic pathway for those facing the challenges of life and ministry in a regressive and divided culture.

Ultreia Project serves those who desire to explore and deepen their spiritual connection to God, self and others. This exploration is embraced through the companionship of a spiritual director who provides spiritual guidance, encouragement and affirmation as the seeker ventures beyond the known into the possibilities of the divine unknowns yet to be encountered and embraced.

Spiritual direction is not counseling or coaching, rather it is the companionship of a trained spiritual guide committed to helping the seeker awaken to the presence of God in the moments of daily life and to embrace life as a sacred journey.

The social, economic, political and theological challenges facing today’s faith communities has intensified the “performance-pressure” felt by those who lead and/or serve in these essential communities.

Ultreia Project invites clergy and church-workers to explore and enhance their faith journey as a primary source of reclaiming a more holistic perspective for their life and ministry.  This enhancement is provided through mentoring and guidance that equips and empowers the ability to fulfill one’s calling with confidence and joy.

The major challenge of congregational mission today is not primarily about discerning right from wrong, but rather about managing the inherent polarities of reconciling mission and ministry in a bifurcated world.

The Ultreia Project offers the insight training and tools needed for spiritual leaders to discern the Spirit’s pathway forward as inclusive, respectful and transformative communities of faith.
